This comprehensive and engaging graduate course delves into the essential elements of effective health coaching, focusing on motivational interviewing, the structure of health coaching sessions, and personal growth within emotional intelligence and mindfulness. Students will develop a deep understanding of motivational interviewing techniques and learn how to apply them to create client-centered coaching sessions that foster sustainable mindset and behavior changes resulting in improved health outcomes. The course also emphasizes the importance of structuring coaching sessions to provide a consistent and supportive environment for clients to actively work toward their goals. Furthermore, students will engage in personal growth and self-awareness exercises to cultivate emotional intelligence and mindfulness, recognizing the impact of these skills on coaching effectiveness and client outcomes. By developing strong, empathetic relationships with clients and managing their own emotions and biases, students will be better equipped to create a supportive atmosphere conducive to growth and change. This dynamic course prepares aspiring health coaches to empower clients and facilitate transformative health and wellness journeys. There are onsite requirements for this course. prereq: admitted to Master of Arts in Integrative Health and Wellbeing Coaching; or, Integrative Therapies and Healing Practices Certificate-Health Coaching track; or, Doctor of Nursing Practice; or, non-degree seeking graduate students or students from other graduate degree programs may enroll with permission of the course instructor.
